Location-induced correlation and heterogeneity are mitigated by the application of fixed effects, random effects, and extreme gradient boosting (XGB) models. Claims records from Optum's Clinformatics Data Mart, totaling 2,464,522, were used to train the models, which were then validated using a hold-out set of 1,056,224 records. Model performance is measured overall and within subgroups based on the presence or absence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their specific geographic area.
