In a prospective cohort study, we sought to assess the connection between thiamine and riboflavin intake during pregnancy, encompassing dietary sources and supplementation, and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).
From the Tongji Birth Cohort, we recruited 3036 pregnant women, specifically 923 in the first trimester and 2113 in the second trimester. Dietary thiamine and supplemental riboflavin intake were evaluated using, respectively, a validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire and a lifestyle questionnaire. During the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy, a 75g, 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test was utilized to ascertain a diagnosis of GDM.
